Job Description

Responsibilities
• Perform spa treatment services on guests using safe, comfortable, hygienic manner and professional techniques.
• Maintain an ample inventory of all products necessary to perform all spa services including skin care products, cotton, distilled water, wax, waxing sticks, bowls, towels, sheets, blankets, plastic bags, and face cloths. Prepare kits as required.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area consistent with the high standards of the facility.
• Assist in any and all ways in the spa when not scheduled to perform spa services. This assistance is to include acting as spa receptionist, selling and restocking professional retail skin care and hair care products.
• Constantly maintain an up to date knowledge of the spa services performed and any revisions in the skin care products or procedures used.
• Answer all questions related to services performed and products used.
• Be on time for appointments and thoroughly review appointments after completing each service and shift.
• The ability to courteously interact and answer all facility related questions with guests.
• Assist in the co-ordination of spa services with other spa programmes.
• Updated regarding current trends in the spa industry.
• Serve as catalyst to cross sell and promote spa services to members and guests.
• Maintain current professional licenses.
• Report dysfunctional equipment to Assistant Spa Manager.
• Work with the Spa Operation Manager and Assistant Spa Managers in the formulation of plans for projects and other areas.
• Ensure individual is well versed in all aspects of the Spa's operations i.e. Business telephone usage, Guest relations, Spa services, Retail sales, etc.
• Assist in the operations of all spa departments as  required: fitness and facility operations.
• To perform other responsibilities as assigned by the superior, but not limited to the above.
Qualification & Requirements
• Candidate must possess at least a Higher secondary/Pre-U/A level/College, Professional Certificate/NiTEC, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Hospitality/Tourism/Hotel Management, Others, Physical Therapy/Physiotherapy or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months experience in relevant field
• A team player with active participation and good communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills.
• General conduct and understanding of the English language in keeping with the requirements of ISM and a first class passenger cruise operator.

SCOPE
Under the general guidance of the SPA Manager, provide professional and engaging wellness therapies, beauty and massage treatments to our clients, offer a full range of treatments to fulfill different client needs and objectives.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivering a variety of spa services (body treatments, massages, facials, waxing and manicure/pedicure) in a safe and comfortable manner

  • Monitor stock levels of oils and creams and ensures that par stock levels are maintained at all times.

  • Obtains the basic medical history for a client, assesses any problems or conditions and suggests appropriate therapy based on current health of client.
  • Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications like any allergies, high blood pressure, and pregnancy before beginning the service.
  • Maintains spa and treatment room appearance, cleanliness according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the spa.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, Also use equipment only as intended.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times and maintain client details and confidentiality.
  • Try to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and inform the management about any incidents or guest complaints.
  • Handle emergency procedures and report any accidents to your manager and security.
  • Handle inappropriate guest behaviour as per the hotels standard operating procedures for inappropriate conduct for guests and therapists.
  • Frequently check with guest to promote comfort, safety and security throughout service.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, classes and training sessions; knowledge required within the Spa must be passed on to co-workers. 
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by management.

Thank you for your interest in us, our Biodiversity Resort, and for reading this!  Raja Ampat Biodiversity Eco Resort is the project of Patricia Sanz and Reynaldo Corral.  Here you can read a little about us and get to know who we are, how we got here, why we are here, etc, etc… We hope this won´t put you to sleep!
In a nutshell: Patricia was born in Vitoria, Spain and has worked many years in the tourism and hospitality industry, in both Spain and UK. A born globetrotter, she has roamed all the continents of the world. These journeys fed her curiosity for the underwater world, and it became imperative to find a way to fund her dream-passion for the ocean.  As with all projects, you start with baby steps and hope to make great leaps from there!
Rey was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and he emigrated to the US for a university education.  After graduating from Engineering School, he initially planned to get experience working in the engineering industry in the US and Spain, as a means to pay for diving-sailing-travelling. After graduating from a university in the US, he started traveling around the world, sailing and diving. 
 
After finding this formula not sustainable he decided to pursue the dream of creating a locus for his 100% travelling-diving passion. During this “new beginning”, Patricia and Rey met, during their Divemaster Course in Sant Feliu de Guixols (near Barcelona) and they embarked on their new story together.
The rest is history. Together they completed their PADI/SSI Instructor certification, and then they worked in the dive industry, managing resorts and liveaboards, all over southeast Asia: in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Spain.
As the song goes: “Mi única patria, la mar”…the sea, my only homeland. After working for many years in the dive industry, and countless years of globetrotting, packing and unpacking our overused backpacks, we finally decided to chase our dreams, to dive in Raja Ampat and try our luck. Spa & Massage Therapist Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
1.Perform opening and closing greeting procedures.
2.Helps promoting the massage to the guests.
3.Monitor stock levels of oils and creams and ensures that par stock levels are maintained at all times.
4.Provides individualised bodywork treatments that meet the guests needs and expectations.
5.Be thoroughly familiar and able to recommend Spa products and treatments as well as know pertinent hotel information.
6.Ask each guest if any basic medical history for a client, assesses any problems or conditions and suggests appropriate therapy based on current health of client.
7.Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications like any allergies, high blood pressure, and pregnancy before beginning the service.
8.Maintains spa and treatment room appearance, cleanliness according to standard operating procedures.
9.Set up and organise work area with designated supplies, and resource materials; report shortages to supervisor.
10.Be familiar with all hotel/spa packages, promotions, prices and rates.
11.Ensures that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the spa.
12.Provide massage services to guests using the products.
13.Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, Also use equipment only as intended. Maintain positive, be friendly, professional with guest relations at all times and maintain client details and confidentiality. 14.Try to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and inform the management about any incidents or guest complaints. Handle emergency procedures and report any accidents to your manager and security.
15.Handle inappropriate guest behaviour as per the hotels standard operating procedures for Inappropriate conduct for guests and therapists.
16.Frequently check with guest to promote comfort, safety and security throughout service. Fill out necessary reports or data at the end of each session.
17.Assists with washing and folding of all linens used in treatment rooms. Assists in all areas of recreation and leisure operation as and when required.
18.Carry out any other duties assigned by management.

In a nutshell: Patricia was born in Vitoria, Spain and has worked many years in the tourism and hospitality industry, in both Spain and UK. A born globetrotter, she has roamed all the continents of the world. These journeys fed her curiosity for the underwater world, and it became imperative to find a way to fund her dream-passion for the ocean.  As with all projects, you start with baby steps and hope to make great leaps from there!
Rey was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and he emigrated to the US for a university education.  After graduating from Engineering School, he initially planned to get experience working in the engineering industry in the US and Spain, as a means to pay for diving-sailing-travelling. After graduating from a university in the US, he started traveling around the world, sailing and diving. 
 
After finding this formula not sustainable he decided to pursue the dream of creating a locus for his 100% travelling-diving passion. During this “new beginning”, Patricia and Rey met, during their Divemaster Course in Sant Feliu de Guixols (near Barcelona) and they embarked on their new story together.
The rest is history. Together they completed their PADI/SSI Instructor certification, and then they worked in the dive industry, managing resorts and liveaboards, all over southeast Asia: in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Spain.
As the song goes: “Mi única patria, la mar”…the sea, my only homeland. After working for many years in the dive industry, and countless years of globetrotting, packing and unpacking our overused backpacks, we finally decided to chase our dreams, to dive in Raja Ampat and try our luck. 1. Staff Management

Job Description

The Director of Spa’s overall responsibilities are to manage the day to day operations of the spa to include staff management, quality assurance, evolving customer service / problem resolution, inventory maintenance, and the achievement of retail and service goals.
 
1. Staff Management
Overall goal is to develop, motivate and lead staff members to achieve their best by providing leadership and specific performance goals and expectations.
 
  • Manage personnel under own supervision including staff development training, counselling, disciplining and evaluating
  • Recruits, hires and trains all spa staff
  • Performs appraisals and conducts staff reviews
  • Maintains satisfactory performance standards among all levels of supervised employees
  • Maintain detailed records on personnel issues
  • Manages payroll to include: commission spreadsheet for both therapists and guest services officers
  • Trains new staff on standards procedures, booking procedures, customer service problem resolution techniques
  • Emphasis on excellent communicates to spa staff via daily team briefings, and “one on one” meetings as required
  • Approves all schedules (Therapists, Guest Services and Public Area teams) ensuring appropriate coverage during peak and non-peak times
  • Mediates problems amongst staff members
  • Leads monthly team meetings ensuring that specific topics / issues are communicated to and addressed with team members
2. Operations Excellence
Overall goal is to assure the staff operates with peak efficiency and productivity through coordination and knowledge of operating budgets.
  • Responsible for inventory purchasing and control for products, equipment and supplies
  • Oversees retail including deliveries, monthly inventories, displays and achievement of monthly goals
  • Ensures that there are appropriate stock levels for all products both on the floor and in the stock room
  • Review and track product sales
  • Reviews spa appointments daily in SpaBooker system and ensure maximum bookings
  • Ensures proper opening / closing procedures are adhered to, to include cash registers, closing / retail reports and manager’s walkthrough are properly filled out
  • Responsible for the general maintenance of facility (in conjunction with Engineering Department) by conducting daily walkthrough, delegating and following through on housekeeping of internal and external areas always ensuring a clean, fully functioning spa
  • Approves all orders for the following expenses: office supplies, laundry, postage and travel
3. Additional Duties
  • Work with Marketing Department to implement marketing and promotions plans to retain and recruit customers
  • Participate in weekly hotel management meetings
  • Review latest industry info and trends, network regularly with equipment and product vendors to maximize relationship
  • Conduct monthly “mystery shopping” for each team member

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Spa Supervisor will oversee the spa coordinators and spa attendants and will lend support when needed. The Spa Supervisor will also oversee all spa operations. 

 

RELATIONSHIP:

Report to:                               GM, Chief Accountant

Subordinate Staff:                   Therapists

Other internal contacts:           HR Supervisor, Purchasing Manager, and                                                     other departments

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Responsible for training all new front desk staff, and spa attendants and ensuring all job requirements and standards are met. 
  • Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office.
  • Effectively resolve guest complaints
  • Coaching and evaluating of spa team performance.
  • Assist with monthly inventory.
  • Maintain all guest supplies and assist in ordering as needed.
  • Maintain retail area and check retail stock daily.
  • Strong retail skills.
  • Answer questions about available services, general property information and amenities for Daraya Hotel.
  • Ensure adherence to quality improvement or corrective action plans.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all guests’ areas.
  • May be required to perform spa services when and if needed.
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by GM.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Dependable with the ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
