Job Description

  • Perform spa treatment services on guests using safe, comfortable, hygienic manner and professional techniques.
  • Maintain an ample inventory of all products necessary to perform all spa services including skin care products, cotton, distilled water, wax, waxing sticks, bowls, towels, sheets, blankets, plastic bags, and face cloths. Prepare kits as required.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area consistent with the high standards of the facility.
  • Assist in any and all ways in the spa when not scheduled to perform spa services. This assistance is to include acting as spa receptionist, selling and restocking professional retail skin care and hair care products.
  • Constantly maintain an up to date knowledge of the spa services performed and any revisions in the skin care products or procedures used.
  • Answer all questions related to services performed and products used.
  • Be on time for appointments and thoroughly review appointments after completing each service and shift.
  • The ability to courteously interact and answer all facility related questions with guests.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of spa services with other spa programmes.
  • Updated regarding current trends in the spa industry.
  • Serve as catalyst to cross sell and promote spa services to members and guests.
  • Maintain current professional licenses.
  • Report dysfunctional equipment to Assistant Spa Manager.
  • Work with the Spa Operation Manager and Assistant Spa Managers in the formulation of plans for projects and other areas.
  • Ensure individual is well versed in all aspects of the Spa's operations i.e. Business telephone usage, Guest relations, Spa services, Retail sales, etc.
Requirements:
  • Candidate with clear complexion & pleasant personality.
  • Previous work experience (preferably 1-3 years) in a Beauty Salon.
  • Must have a recognized education in a Vocational School or Comite International Desthetique Et. De.
  • Cosmetologie (CIDESCO) qualification.
  • Familiar with Dermalogica products would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in Facial Work, Hand & Food Care (Manicure & Pedicure), Body Revival and basic Waxing Technique, Body & Aroma Massage.
  • Good oral and written English & Chinese

In a nutshell: Patricia was born in Vitoria, Spain and has worked many years in the tourism and hospitality industry, in both Spain and UK. A born globetrotter, she has roamed all the continents of the world. These journeys fed her curiosity for the underwater world, and it became imperative to find a way to fund her dream-passion for the ocean.  As with all projects, you start with baby steps and hope to make great leaps from there!
Rey was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and he emigrated to the US for a university education.  After graduating from Engineering School, he initially planned to get experience working in the engineering industry in the US and Spain, as a means to pay for diving-sailing-travelling. After graduating from a university in the US, he started traveling around the world, sailing and diving. 
 
After finding this formula not sustainable he decided to pursue the dream of creating a locus for his 100% travelling-diving passion. During this “new beginning”, Patricia and Rey met, during their Divemaster Course in Sant Feliu de Guixols (near Barcelona) and they embarked on their new story together.
The rest is history. Together they completed their PADI/SSI Instructor certification, and then they worked in the dive industry, managing resorts and liveaboards, all over southeast Asia: in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Spain.
As the song goes: “Mi única patria, la mar”…the sea, my only homeland. After working for many years in the dive industry, and countless years of globetrotting, packing and unpacking our overused backpacks, we finally decided to chase our dreams, to dive in Raja Ampat and try our luck. So we settled down and launched our own project in West Papua, on Gam, a remote island suffused with peace, tranquility, and living in direct contact with nature in its purest form, where you can dive in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Rey was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and he emigrated to the US for a university education.  After graduating from Engineering School, he initially planned to get experience working in the engineering industry in the US and Spain, as a means to pay for diving-sailing-travelling. After graduating from a university in the US, he started traveling around the world, sailing and diving. 
 
After finding this formula not sustainable he decided to pursue the dream of creating a locus for his 100% travelling-diving passion. During this “new beginning”, Patricia and Rey met, during their Divemaster Course in Sant Feliu de Guixols (near Barcelona) and they embarked on their new story together.
The rest is history. Together they completed their PADI/SSI Instructor certification, and then they worked in the dive industry, managing resorts and liveaboards, all over southeast Asia: in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Spain.
As the song goes: “Mi única patria, la mar”…the sea, my only homeland. After working for many years in the dive industry, and countless years of globetrotting, packing and unpacking our overused backpacks, we finally decided to chase our dreams, to dive in Raja Ampat and try our luck. So we settled down and launched our own project in West Papua, on Gam, a remote island suffused with peace, tranquility, and living in direct contact with nature in its purest form, where you can dive in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Informs, advises, recommends, performs and delivers to guests, spa treatments and therapeutic services plus assistance in use of facilities and providing retail recommendation/sales
  • Maximizes guest revenue potential, satisfaction and utilization by delivering and re-booking spa and wellness services & facilities. Provide alternatives if their first request/choice cannot be met
  • Where applicable, handle or endorse to the appropriate channel any incoming and outgoing communication with utmost courtesy and professionalism to ensure competence, performance and daily operational objectives are met
  • Efficiently resolve any issue or guest complaint (while being mindful of safety, security and guidelines set in the Delegation of Authority) with to ensure their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded
  • Ensure on-going relations and rapport are not compromised with the guest and exceptional guest service is provided at all times
  • Proactively ensure that recovery, resolution and follow-up action or rectification will prevent recurrence of the same or similar issue/incident
  • Create the first positive impression to the guests by greeting them in a warm welcoming manner-by name addressed
  • Ensure that all equipment associated with service function at all time.
  • Answer all questions related to services and identify the benefit or advantage of treatments
  • Assist with demonstrations, journalist visits, promotional activities and other departmental or hotel events as required
  • Prepare and present complimentary welcome and farewell rituals, tokens and information packets to specific guest experience categories
  • Maintain, enhance and expand product knowledge of services, events and facilities of the hotels and surrounding areas to ensure guests receive accurate, timely information and advice
  • Adhere to and exhibit pro-active performance in accordance with internal policies by taking responsibility for ensuring the workplace is free of unacceptable workplace behavior; that a workplace culture of equity and diversity is fostered
  • Utilize behaviors of responsibility, accountability and awareness that continually promotes wellness, health and safety
  • Promote an environment where workplace hazards are minimised and the health and safety of employees and guests are valued
  • Work and coordinate well with other Departments to ensure smooth transitions/arrangements regarding all spa and wellness activities
  • Maintain high overall guest satisfaction in all areas and achieve high quality guest service standards
  • Attend and adhere to training and guidelines on service quality, product knowledge and obligated technical skills and/or required by the company
  • Diligently complete, track and provide pertinent daily/weekly/monthly/periodic reports, statistics and analyses in a thorough, neat and timely manner
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Strictly abide by and comply with policies related to fire, hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness in work stations, private guest areas and public areas
  • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions and/or security issues to the management
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by management from time to time
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Degree holder or certification as qualified therapist or equivalent professional training
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
  • Prefer 1-3 years working experience in Therapy, Nursing or Spa Operations or equivalent service area at a 5 star hotel or beauty/medical/wellness facility
  • Experience and/or working knowledge in the following treatment/therapies/massages: Massage (Swedish, Shiatsu, Thai, Balinese, Sports, Lymphatic Drainage, Stone, etc.), Facial (knowledge of facial drainage and extraction a plus), Exfoliation, Envelopment, Reiki
  • Strong guest relations and sales skills
  • Self-motivated, ability to anticipate, analyze and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proactive, responsible, alert and agile, pleasant personality, efficient and tactful
  • Energetic and positive
  • Good command of spoken English
  • Consistently well-groomed
  • Able to work on flexible shifts including overnight, weekends and holidays on rotation basis
